Jennifer & Nancy
One of the things I learned from working with Anne is that my sister and I are complete opposites, but perfect complements.
That’s probably not the typical outcome of selling a house, but Anne is not a typical realtor.
Anne helped us through the stressful and emotional endeavor of selling our childhood home in Kensington after our dad died. It was a year-long process to prepare the house for sale—a year of sifting, purging, and savoring more than 50 years' worth of possessions and memories. There were stories shared, tears shed, cookies eaten (a lot!), and months spent getting reacquainted with each other as sisters.
As we drifted in and out of our family home in a fog that year, Anne mediated and provided moral support. She fortified us with sandwiches and pie. When dad’s famous tulips bloomed in the yard, there was a bouquet waiting on the counter every time we arrived at the house. She went well beyond the call of “agent” and did a million extra things that kept us from giving up. When Anne suggested using our childhood quilts on the staging beds, it launched an hours-long trip down memory lane. My sister and I, distanced from each other as adults, got to know each other again.
Through all of it, we were so well supported and cared for by Anne that we started enjoying ourselves. It was actually fun when we finally put our beautifully prepared house on the market, and watched it sail off with multiple offers in a slow market!
Ultimately we got so much more than an awesome sale. Anne helped us to become the best of sisters again: A true gift.
